BEN Mee is close to signing a new deal with Burnley.
The centre back’s future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with talks over a new deal dragging on for a number of months.
But there has been a breakthrough recently and the Lancashire Telegraph understands the 28-year-old will commit his future to the club shortly.
Mee was captain for most of last season in the absence of Tom Heaton and has been a club stalwart since his arrival, initially on loan, in July 2011, making a total of 247 appearances.
The former Manchester City youngster’s new contract will also mean there will be plenty of competition for a starting place in the centre of defence next season, following the £15million signing of Ben Gibson.
