BURNLEY will play two friendlies against European opposition at Turf Moor after confirming their pre-season schedule.

Qualification for the Europa League has led to a change of pre-season plans for Sean Dyche, but they will play six friendlies before the start of the Premier League season on Saturday, August 11.

Two of those will be at Turf Moor against European opposition, including Montpellier and as yet unconfirmed Spanish side.

The Clarets will begin against Cork City on Friday, July 13 (7pm) at the end of a week-long training camp just outside Cork, in Ireland.

When they return Dyche will split his team for two games on the same day, as he did last year, with Macclesfield Town and Curzon Ashton the opposition this year on Friday, July 20.

The games at Moss Rose and the Tameside Stadium will both kick-off at 7.45pm.

On Monday, July 23 Burnley will make the shirt trip along the M65 to face Championship outfit Preston North End at Deepdale (7.45pm).

The Clarets then begin competitive action on Thursday, July 26 with the first leg of their Europa League second qualifying round fixtures.

On Sunday, July 29 (1.30pm) Montpellier, who finished 10th in Ligue 1, are the visitors to Turf Moor, before the second leg of the first Europa League tie takes place on Thursday, August 2.

The final pre-season friendly then takes place at Turf Moor on Sunday, August 5 (1.30pm) with a visit from a La Liga side.

Burnley will hope to be back in Europa League action on Thursday, August 9 and Thursday, August 16, with the Premier League season beginning on the weekend in between those fixtures.

The pre-season schedule also includes a couple of behind-closed-doors friendlies against League One opposition.
