BURNLEY defender Wayne Thomas is expected to join Southampton today for £1.2million.
The 28-year-old is likely to sign in time for the Saints' trip to Norwich on Saturday after the two clubs agreed a fee.
Thomas, who is in the last year of his contract, has made over 50 appearances for Burnley, recovering from two serious injuries during his spell at Turf Moor to captain the side last term.
Southampton stepped up their search for a central defender after crashing out of the Carling Cup at the hands of League Two Peterborough United on Monday night.
That defeat came on the back of their opening day 4-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace.
