ROVERS full-back Sam Hart has joined League One side Rochdale on loan until the end of the season.

Hart is yet to make a league start for Rovers since joining on August 31 from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.

The move to Spotland will allow the 21-year-old, who has made seven appearances in a Rovers hirt, to further his development having spent the first half of last season with League Two side Port Vale.

Rovers are looking to strengthen at left-back and add competition to Derrick Williams and have agreed a fee with Fleetwood Town for Amari’i Bell who they are hopeful will make the move to Ewood Park.

And Rochdale have moved to bring in Hart after selling Joe Bunney to Northampton Town this week.

Hart’s last appearance for Rovers came in the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United on December 30, but he hasn’t featured in either of the last two matchday squads.

He did however, play against Dale in the Checkatrade Trophy tie in November.

Speaking about Hart earlier this month, manager Tony Mowbray said: “We brought young Sam Hart in from Liverpool and I think he is still a very young boy, he has wonderful attributes but we have to wait for him to mature.”
