BURNLEY chairman John Stubbs admits he is delighted to see former Turf Moor seamer James Anderson firing on all cylinders for England again.

Anderson made a superb return to the Three Lions fold in the first Test against India, six months after his last Test appearance.

Taking impressive match figures of 7-125, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, the 25-year-old was a major contributer as England came close to snatching the lead in the three-Test series.

Burnley-born Anderson, who began his career at his home town side, is now set to lead England's attack tomorrow in the second Test at Trent Bridge.

And Stubbs believes Anderson is back to his best following a tough last couple of years, which has seen the bowler suffer from injury and a loss of form.

"Jimmy had a fantastic Test match," said Stubbs.

"He's done very, very well. He's had a bit of a rough time in the last couple of years with injuries and all sorts of things.

"But it was great to see him do so well at Lord's.

"I think the conditions favoured him obviously, but he bowled very well to take five wickets in India's first innings.

"He also took two wickets in the second innings and I don't think you can ask for too much more.

"As a lad that came through from Burnley Cricket Club, we are very proud of his achievements and he's helping to keep us on the map."

England captain Michael Vaughan hailed his bowling attack's performance in the drawn Test as the best for England since the 2005 Ashes series.
