BEN Benson has signed a new long-term contract and confirmed as senior goalkeeping coach at Blackburn Rovers.
Benson was promoted from his role within the Academy to work with the first-team goalkeepers after the appointment of Tony Mowbray as head coach in February.
And Benson has now had his role within the first-team confirmed on a full-time basis having signed a new long-term deal.
He was promoted to the first-team along with David Lowe and David Dunn from the Academy to assist Mowbray, who replaced Owen Coyle as manager in February.
Coyle left Ewood Park in February, along with his assistant Sandy Stewart and goalkeeping coach Phil Hughes, for who Benson replaced.
And having impressed in the final months of last season, and in pre-season, 27-year-old Benson has been confirmed as the club’s senior goalkeeping coach.
Benson joined Rovers in the summer of 2015 from Carlisle United, where he had worked for the previous eight years, and was brought to Ewood Park by Eric Kinder who left his role as Head of Academy on July 11.
