BRISTOL City boss rued his side’s squandered chances as they left Ewood Park with a share of the spoils against Rovers.

Tammy Abraham handed the visitors a 14th minute lead only for Johnson to see his side pass up several good chances to add to their advantage.

And with 19 minutes to go Sam Gallagher levelled for Rovers who piled on the pressure in the closing stages.

And Johnson said: “I thought we were brilliant for the first half. Our goal was 30-odd passes in the end – and we were energetic and bright.

“The only thing I feel a bit down about is the fact we weren’t clinical enough.

“We had some great chances to put it to bed and we didn’t quite do that, but sometimes that’s what happens in games, and then we rode out a tough storm.

“They threw caution to the wind – they only had two defenders on in the end, but we maintained our bravery and our boldness to try to win it, because that’s what we wanted to do. But if we didn’t win it, it was important we didn’t lose it.”

The Robins weren’t able to make it three straight wins, but the point keeps them four points clear of the relegation zone with three games to play.

Johnson added: “For us, we’ve got to try to look up as well.

“We’ve got a point closer to 17th and four teams stayed below us (and the bottom three). We’ve got to keep chipping away.

“I think our performances have been very good in the last three games, and that’s been very pleasing. We know what football’s like – it can change very quickly – so we’ve just got to keep doing our work, keep vigilant and try our very best to go and win on Saturday.”
