BLACKBURN Rovers’ oldest former player, Jack Pratt, has died. He was 100.
Jack, who became the first player in the club’s history to celebrate his 100th birthday in May, passed away peacefully in his sleep earlier this month.
Rovers visited the former goalkeeper at his care home in Cumbria just days before he reached the memorable milestone to present him with a personalised shirt signed by the first-team squad, to which Jack remarked: “It is the sign of a club with a heart!”
Born in Workington on May 5, 1916, Jack joined Rovers in April 1936 and made eight appearances for the club before calling time on his football career to serve his country in World War Two.
An avid follower of Rovers’ fortunes ever since, the club said: “Jack was a true gentleman, a real inspiration and will be sorely missed by many.”
