BLACKBURN Rovers boss Owen Coyle was the special guest at a business breakfast and networking event held at Ewood Park.

Coyle took part in a Q&A on stage before answering questions on a host of topics from the invited corporate clients.

He spoke about the trip to Austria, his relationship with the club’s owners Venky’s, the club’s promising young players, his preferred style of play, and his hopes for the forthcoming campaign.

He also confirmed that Rovers have turned down two bids from Newcastle United for captain Grant Hanley and that preliminary discussions with playmaker Ben Marshall over a new contract have taken place.

Coyle, who has made five summer signings to date, also stated that he remains eager to strengthen the squad further, with a pacey striker, a left-back and a goalkeeper all high on his agenda.

The club’s new manager left the room to a warm round of applause before heading back to Brockhall to take training.

Rovers’ head of commercial and marketing, Greg Coar, said: “The event was a huge success and we are extremely grateful to Owen for finding the time in what is obviously a very hectic pre-season period to attend.

“His charisma and enthusiasm is infectious and we have already had some very positive feedback from a number of supporters, who clearly appreciated how refreshingly honest he was with his answers.

“We are keen to strengthen our links with the local business community and hopefully events like this will help to harness those relationships.”
