ANTON Forrester has signed a two-year contract with Port Vale following his departure rom Blackburn Rovers.
Forrester impressed new Valiants boss Bruno Ribeiro during a week-long training camp in Mottram Hall in Cheshire and then scored twice in a 4-0 friendly win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
After that match Ribeiro – who has the same name as the ex-Rovers defender – said: “He is a good player and I am very happy with him.”
Forrester made only one first-team appearance at Ewood Park following his arrival on a free transfer from Everton in January 2013.
After making his Rovers debut in the FA Cup quarter-final replay defeat at home to Millwall in March 2013, the forward was sent on loan to Bury.
He netted seven goals in 31 games at Gigg Lane before he was struck down by a serious knee ligament injury which ruled him out for nine months.
After making a scoring return for Rovers Under-21s, Forrester was hampered by a series of niggling knocks.
But, after being handed a new one-year contract last summer, he returned to action in 2015-16.
Forrester bagged seven goals in 21 appearances for Rovers U21s, and also had a one-month loan spell at Morecambe, before he was released.
