ABOUT £1,500 has been raised for a footballer put out of work through injury.
Bacup Borough boss Brent Peters said the money was still being counted but it could even total up to £1,700.
Karl Stanley, 32, a self-employed fitter from Edenfield, has been unable to work since his leg was broken in several places during a match several weeks ago.
An all-star team including actors Alan Halsall, of Coronation Street and Will Mellor, of Hollyoaks, and past and present professional players took on Bacup Borough, but lost to the local lads 5-3.
An auction after the match saw a Manchester United shirt signed by Ryan Giggs go for £220 and signed Ricky Hatton boxing gloves bought by footballer Michael Gray for £300, who then put them back in the auction, where they fetched a further £200.
Karl said he would like to thank Brent and everyone at the club.
