RAILWAY bounced back from the disappointment of losing their title decider against Padiham Town by lifting the Burnley and District League's Harry Walsh Cup.
And it proved to be good news all round as losing finalists, Hapton received their Supplementary Cup winners medals which they had won a month earlier.
With full backs Ryan Salmon and Steve Pennington operating as extra attacking wide players, Railway were soon into their stride, and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring.
Paul Hodgson, the League's leading scorer with 60 league and cup goals, made no mistake when Hapton conceded a free kick on the edge of the box, and fired a sweetly struck low shot into the far corner.
Just before half time, Hapton enjoyed their best spell of pressure, and their best chance, when a goalbound shot from the edge of the area from captain John Thompson was cleared away for a corner.
Right at the start of the second half, Scott Carter added a second from close range.
Railway were into their stride now, and continued to dominate and create chances with Hodgson, Carter and captain Billy Nurney all going close, and only smart work from Hapton keeper Daniel Proctor kept his side in it.
In the end, Railway were worthy winners and deservedly lifted some silverware after an excellent campaign.
