BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche doesn’t expect Joey Barton to be affected by the boo-boys on his return to Loftus Road tomorrow.

The 33-year-old midfielder spent four controversial seasons with Queens Park Rangers, one of which was spent on loan at Marseille, before he left the club in the summer.

This is the first time he has been back since his departure and subsequent move to Burnley at the end of August, but Dyche doesn’t expect Barton to be concerned about what kind of reception may lie in wait in West London.

“I’m not too fussed and I don’t think he’ll be too fussed,” the Clarets chief said.

“I think he’s old enough and wise enough to know that wherever you’ve been as a player some people will love you and some people don’t, some people think you did great, others don’t.

“I don’t think he’ll be too bothered. I’ll be surprised if he’s too bothered.”

Barton made his 11th appearance for the Clarets in last week’s 2-0 Turf Moor defeat to Preston.

And Dyche is happy with the way he has settled into the squad.

“He’s added to the mentality of the group in his own way,” said the Burnley boss.

“He’s been very respectful of what we want to do here and very respectful of the club and what it stands for.

“He’s been everything I thought he would be.

“I spoke to him at length before he came here and told him what he could expect and we’re delivering that, and he in turn is paying that back. He’s done very well so far.

“He gives us a bite, a determination, good play, good awareness, a voice, all the good things midfielders give you.”
