A dramatic finish at Applegarth with Qadeer Ahmed run out chasing the winning run saw Earby's Veka Ribblesdale League senior division match against Padiham end in a tie.

With one wicket left but five overs to bat, the 2006 runners-up Padiham looked to be in the driving seat.

However, Ahmed chanced his luck trying for a second run and a superb throw by Andrew Jaggers ended the match.

Ali Azmat made 32 as Earby posted 94-8 from 40 overs in a rain-affected match. Azmat then took three wickets while star man Kashif Siddique made just 26 in Padiham's reply.

In contrast, Ribblesdale Wanderers achieved the perfect result against Barnoldswick.

The Victory Park strugglers were dismissed for just 55 with Joe Scuderi taking 4-12. Ribblesdale cruised home without losing a wicket in 13.5 overs.

Blackburn Northern enjoyed a comfortable win over Oswaldtwistle Immanuel.

Oswaldtwistle had pro Ahmer Saeed to thank for their total of 149-7, as he made 76 not out.

Then Naeem Ashraf made 54 not out as Northern won by seven wickets.

A low-scoring game at Station Road saw Whalley collapse to 47 all out as they chased Edenfield's 126. Babar Naeem took 5-16 in Whalley's dismal run chase.

Baxenden still head the table by just two points from champions Clitheroe.

Dave Parkinson plundered another half century in the home side's 174-9, before five wickets from Jonathan Fielding helped dismiss Cherry Tree for 143.

Clitheroe, like most sides this weekend, found runs hard to come by. But 103-9 proved defendable as Josh Marquet claimed 7-23 in Great Harwood's 67 all out.

On a day of low scores, nothing was lower than Cherry Tree's 18 all out in their first division home game against Burnley Belvedere. Hussain took figures of 6-11.
