RAMSBOTTOM United goalkeeper and captain Grant Shenton made his 250th appearance for the club on Saturday, but he saw the milestone end in defeat at Halesowen Town.

The Rams remain rooted to the foot of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division after going down 2-1.

Reece Hales put the hosts ahead on 58 minutes but the advantage was wiped out almost immediately, with Shelton Payne levelling from the penalty spot.

It looked like Garry Vaughan’s side would hang on for a crucial point but Keyon Reffell won it for Halesowen with eight minutes to go, leaving the Rams stuck on 10 points from their 20 games so far this season.

In the First Division North Clitheroe suffered a third home defeat as they were beaten 5-2 by Farsley Celtic.

Simon Garner’s side remain in the play-offs after they raced into a two-goal lead, with Scott Harries and Louis Mayers scoring. But struggling Celtic hit back to land a shock win as Ross Daly and then Lewis Nightingale levelled matters.

Two minutes later Paul Walker put the visitors ahead and Paddy Miller and Aiden Savory also netted for five-star Farsley.
