MIDFIELDER Garreth O'Connor has been transfer listed by Burnley, while four players have been told their contracts will not be renewed.

Dubliner O'Connor, who had a year left to run on his deal, has been put up for sale, at the same time as the release of Danny Coyne, John McGreal, Frank Sinclair and Graham Branch.

Former Bournemouth star O'Connor, 28, has failed to make a first team start this season and manager Steve Cotterill said: "He needs to get out there, so I had a chat with him at the end of the season and we have come to the conclusion that we would put him on the list and see what materialises."

The Burnley boss also paid tribute to the departing quartet.

"He has been great to have around the place and I am sure we will miss him, along with the others," said Cotterill of Branch.

Of McGreal he added: "John was my first signing and I'll never forget that one. John has been an excellent player for me."

Wales goalkeeper Coyne's future had become increasingly uncertain in recent weeks, but Cotterill hailed him "an honest professional".

Sinclair's release comes as little surprise with the defender loaned out to Huddersfield with a view to securing a permanent deal in the summer.

"Frank has been a fantastic servant and we'd like to wish him all the best," Cotterill said.
