PHIL Edwards and Leighton McGivern have signed new one-year deals at Accrington Stanley.

They have joined goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin in committing themselves to another season at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

That takes the number of players contracted for Stanley's 2007/08 League Two campaign to seven, with Tony Grant, Rommy Boco, Paul Mullin and Shaun Whalley having already been tied up.

But Mauro Almeida, Sean Doherty and Michael Welch will leave Stanley when their contracts end this summer.

Centre-half Welch, who signed for the Reds ahead of the 2005/06 season, made 75 appearances and was a key member of their Conference Championship winning side.

Midfielder Doherty notched up 24 games for Stanley, but has struggled with injuries, while defender Almeida found it difficult to establish a first-team place following his move from Bulgarian top division club Vihren Sandanski in January.

"I hope they all find new clubs quickly because they are three nice lads," said Stanley boss John Coleman.

"All three lads leave with the best wishes of the club. They have been great to work with and I can't fault any of them for effort."

Coleman is now waiting on the decision of Stanley's remaining non-contracted players, among them captain Peter Cavanagh, Andy Procter and Andy Todd.

He added: "All the players have been spoken to this weekend and hopefully we can at least start to shape the squad for next season in the next week or so.

"There will be more moving on I am sure, but the work to bring in new players is already well underway."
