BURNLEY couldn't sign off the 2007-08 campaign with a win as Michael Mifsud and Jay Tabb scored either side of half-time to send Coventry home with the three points.
On-loan striker Paul McVeigh grabbed a goal back seven minutes after Tabb had made it 2-0 to the Sky Blues.
Wayne Thomas went close to grabbing a late equaliser with a header from Wade Elliott's right wing free kick but nodded the ball just over the bar from close range.
The second half provided more entertainment than the first, where chances were at a premium and provided the ingredients of a typical end-of-season encounter between two sides with nothing to play for but pride.
Coventry managed to break the deadlock five minutes before half-time when Mifsud finished a quick counter attack by burying the ball underneath Brian Jensen's outstretched right hand at the near post.
Ade Akinbiyi went close to equalising on the stroke of half-time but dragged his shot narrowly wide.
Tabb doubled Coventry's lead nine minutes into the second half with a neat finish into the bottom right corner.
McVeigh reduced the gap just after the hour afer robbing Isaac Osbourne of possession just outside the area.
But, despite late chances, Burnley couldn't conjure an equaliser.
