AFC DARWEN boss Neil Prince expressed his delight after his side won 2-0 at Silsden on Tuesday night to move up to 12th in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

Darwen had already gone close when Oliver Birchall headed against the bar before Danny Taylor opening the scoring in the fourth minute.

Silsden’s attack was then kept at bay before Connor Gaul netted what proved to be the final goal of the game in the 60th minute.

Prince said: “Everyone put in a shift tonight and we played well with two key figures missing in Paul Coote and Kiel Lonsdale.”

Clitheroe returned to winning ways in Evo-Stik League First Division North with a 4-2 victory at home to Scarborough Athletic.

And the Blues sealed a victory which moved them up to sixth with further strikes from Scott Bakkor, from the penalty spot, and captain Lynch.

It was a night to forgot, however, for struggling Ramsbottom United With Phil Edghill taking over the Rammy reins, the Evo-Stik League Premier Division basement boys were thrashed 7-1 at high-flying Nantwich Town.

Samuel Grimshaw scored their consolation.
