PAUL Horton and Luke Sutton staged something of a Lancashire fightback on day two of the LV County Championship clash against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Horton ended the day unbeaten on 53 with Sutton still at the crease on 45 as Lancashire recovered from 23 for three to finish on 154 for four at the close of play.

Chasing Warwickshire's total of 490, Mark Chilton (14), Mal Loye (four) and Iain Sutcliffe (four) all surrended their wickets cheaply before Stuart Law was dismissed for 21.

But Horton and Sutton, who came together with Lancashire on 71, steadied the ship with Horton cracking eight fours to reach his half century with Sutton hitting nine fours in his impressive knock of 45.

But two wickets apiece from Zimbabwean Heath Streak and South Africa's Dale Steyn kept Warwickshire firmly in control.

Earlier, Alex Loudon scored 104 to follow first-day century-maker, Jim Troughton, to three figures with Streak weighing in with an unbeaten 55. Opener Darren Maddy got the home side off to a fine start with 71.

Gary Keedy was the pick of the Lancashire bowlers, claiming five wickets for 159, with Oliver Newby taking three for 85.
