And although the midfielder is keen to get back on the pitch he admits he’s not missing Leicester’s pre-season training.

He said: “I want to be out there training and playing, but that pre-season run isn’t very nice! The lads have all done well though and I think they’ve all completed it. It’s been really good.

“I’ve come off crutches now and I’m walking about the best I can.

“I’ve started to do some exercises in the gym but I’m just taking it nice and slow. I’m just trying to build the quad back up to get some stability back in my knee.”

James also thanked the well-wishers for messages he had received while missing the final few games of the Foxes’ run-in which saw them complete a dramatic survival escape to ensure their top-flight status for another season.

He added: “The reaction from the fans was really good. At the time I was devastated to do it and thinking about how long I’d be out for, so it was great to have that support.

“I’ve seen some really nice messages and it’s great when you receive that kind of support as a football player. Hopefully now I can work hard to come back even stronger.

“When I first did my injury people were wondering how I was and I wasn’t up-to-date with all this social media, but now I’m injured I want to try to keep people in the loop and in touch with what I’m doing. It’s going to be a long process but it’s going well so far.”
