IT was a fund-raising family affair as Harry Pilkington and his dad Phil took to the open waters of Windermere recently.
The pair raised £775 for Pendleside Hospice where Harry’s uncle passed away last year.
Harry, who is a member of Burnley Bobcats, and his dad took part in the Great North Swim at Windermere.
Due to his age, Harry was not allowed to swim the mile race where dad finished 212th in a very respectable time of 28 minutes 6 seconds.
However, Harry returned the following day to take part in the half a mile race and despite never having swam in open water before he finished in first place in a field of 594 swimmers, clocking a time of 10 minutes 53 seconds.
But it is not just in the water that Harry stars as he has already proved he is something of a hit on dry land too as the St Christo-pher’s High School pupil has demonstrated his sprinting skills at county level.
