OKAY, so to start off this week I'll get the naff headlines out of the way first.

"Battered fish was on the menu at the Fraser Eagle Stadium this week as the hungry Stanley strikers of Accrington greedily gobbled up four goals in a match that was a feast of football for the massed Red army."

To be fair to Grimsby, they looked a decent team in the first 20 minutes, certainly a better footballing team than Peterborough were last week.

The Reds had to work hard for their first goal and when it came, it was the man of the moment, Paul Mullin.

Much has been written about Paul this week as he passed Chris Grimshaw's record for Stanley appearances. He is a true professional and a top bloke to boot. It is not just for his goals that the Stanley faithful love Paul but also for the tireless work he puts into every game. At one point away at Rochdale this season, he was the best right-back on the park!

We (the entire Clayton end) hope that Paul has a few more seasons left playing for the Reds and a truckload more goals.

Well, it's time for a bit of controversy now and a big well done to the match referee on Saturday, Mr J Moss - for my money the best I have seen all season, and if there is any justice I shall watch his rise up the leagues to the Premiership.

It is not often I heap praise on a referee but his brave decision to send off Croft and award the penalty was spot on and, I may add, it's about time we had the rub of the green at Stanley.

Three games left now and hasn't the season flown by?

We have a tough away game at Gay Meadow next Saturday with the Shrews looking to book a place in the play-offs.

I am still hopeful that we will not have to go to Milton Keynes for the last game of the season needing a win as I fear my nerves can't take the strain.
