STEVE Cotterill has urged the Burnley faithful to pump up the volume for the last three home games.

The Clarets entertain Norwich City tonight hoping to take advantage of their game in hand in the first of a trio of Turf Moor outings from their four remaining fixtures.

Cotterill has targeted a strong end to the season - a mission that was scuppered with defeat at relegation threatened Leeds United on Saturday on the back of a four-game unbeaten run.

But with the chance to mathematically secure safety against the Canaries tonight, while a win would also equal last season's points haul of 54, the Burnley boss has urged supporters to spur the players on.

"It's nice to be back at home again, and I think evening games are good at Turf Moor, the crowd are always up for it and passionate," Cotterill said.

"We want to try and finish this season as strongly and in as much of a respectable position as we possibly can.

"With three home games we will need a passionate crowd here, we need them behind us all the time.

"To be fair to them, we go to Leeds and there's 23,000 there, we go to Birmingham there's 30,000 there - you get 10,000 Burnley fans in here that are up for it, they make more noise than them, because they're more passionate.

"But we need that all the time, we need the backing.

"It is hard work for us, the league is forever getting more demanding, and we need our crowd behind us.

"The players live off that, they love to be cheered on by the crowd, and if they can make the last three games as hard an atmosphere for the opposition as we get away from home, we have a good chance in all of those games."
