RAMSBOTTOM United have added former Crewe and Rochdale defender Wayne Goodison to their backroom staff.

Goodison, who played more than 200 games in the Football League, will join manager Jon Robinson and assistant boss Phil Edgehill in preparing the Rams for their second season in the Evo-Stik League Premier Division.

And boss Robinson is delighted to have brought Goodison to the club.

“He will bring loads of experience to the club as I put together a new squad to compete at the highest level the club have ever been at,” said the Rams manager.

“I’ve known Wayne for many years and have great respect for him both as a coach and a man, and I am really looking forward to working with him.

“His knowledge and enthusiasm will pass itself on to the players.

“Along with my assistant Phil Edgehill, we are excited about the new players we are bringing to the club, and we are all looking forward to pre-season and, hopefully, a successful campaign in the Evo-Stik League.”

Goodison, who also played for Barnsley, comes to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium having most recently worked as a coach at Radcliffe Borough towards the end of last season.

He has also held coaching positions at Rossendale United, Salford City, Chorley and Trafford since retiring.
