Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers could rejoin Ipswich for the rest of the season after making a quicker-than-expected recovery from injury.

The ex-England international's month-long loan spell with Town was cut short after he sustained a hamstring injury in the recent 2-0 defeat by Southend.

But the loan arrangement does not expire until this weekend, so Jeffers has returned to Portman Road to continue his recovery.

Should he receive the all-clear from Town's medical staff, manager Jim Magilton has the option to extend the deal, possibly until the end of the campaign.

"I'm recovering quicker than I expected and have come back to Ipswich for the physio staff to have a look at how things are progressing," said Jeffers.

"I'm here for the week to continue my rehab and we'll take it from there."

Jeffers made an impressive impact when he joined the Tractor Boys last month and scored in their 5-2 win at Hull City - the second of his three appearances for them to date.

Now Magilton is hoping the striker will return and help his side achieve a comfortable mid-table finish in the Championship.

"Much depends on the injury and what Blackburn say but we would love to have Franny here for the rest of the season," said the Ipswich boss.
