BLACKBURN Rovers midfielder Corry Evans is relishing tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final replay with Liverpool at Ewood Park.

Evans played a key role in Rovers’ 0-0 draw at Anfield in last month’s initial tie between the teams.

Alongside midfield-partner Lee Williamson the Northern Ireland international helped keep Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana quiet with their performances being picked out for particular praise by Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

Evans was rested for Rovers’ 3-0 Championship win at Leeds United on Saturday but, with Jay Spearing cup-tied, he is poised to return to the starting line-up tomorrow.

And the former Manchester United man said: “It was great to be part of, going to Anfield, keeping a clean sheet and performing in the manner that we did.

“It was a great occasion and hopefully we can get them back to Ewood and go on to Wembley.

“We stuck to our game plan and tried to keep in the game, keep it tight, and we had a couple of chances to nick it as well.

“That was all part of what we were trying to do going into it.

“It paid off and we’ve got a replay now.”

Rovers were roared on by 6,000 supporters at Anfield and will be backed by more than 21,000 home fans tomorrow.

And captain defender Matt Kilgallon, who was part of the side which swept aside Leeds on Saturday, said: “I think we play better when we’re in front of good crowds.

“I thought the away fans on Saturday were brilliant and they bounced along with the Leeds fans and you could hear them signing over them.”
