BLACKBURN Rovers goalkeeper Jason Steele hailed his team-mates after they warmed up for tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final replay with Liverpool in style.

Rovers will go into the Ewood Park encounter on the back of a 3-0 league victory at 10-man Leeds United on Saturday.

And Steele said: “I think everybody was already looking forward to Wednesday but even more so now because the performance was absolutely brilliant, especially second half.

“Okay they were down to 10 men but I think they would have struggled to deal with us with 11 men playing like that.

“The boys were tremendous.”

Steele was rested for the Elland Road clash as he could be needed to start between the posts against Liverpool.

The former England U21s international is Rovers’ first-choice keeper in the Championship.

But his deputy Simon Eastwood has kept goal throughout the club’s thrilling run to the last eight of the FA Cup including the initial 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Eastwood, however, is a doubt for tomorrow’s match after sustaining an injury in training.

That led to Rovers boss Gary Bowyer handing 19-year-old David Raya, who will be ineligible to face Liverpool, his debut against Leeds.

And Steele said: “Simon got a knock on Friday so the decision was made and we’ll see what happens Wednesday now.

“The lads have done ever so well in the rounds and not just Anfield.

“We’ll go into Wednesday and give it our best shot.”

Steele praised the performance Raya produced against Leeds.

He said:  “He showed good temperament, he was solid, and when they went down to 10 men, it was more of a concentration game, and he kept his well.

“It was a good all-round performance.”
