MIDFIELDER Ben Marshall has called on supporters to help Blackburn Rovers complete one of the biggest FA Cup shocks in their proud history and set-up a semi-final showdown with Tim Sherwood.

Rovers stunned Liverpool last month when they held the Premier League high flyers to a thoroughly deserved 0-0 quarter-final draw at Anfield.

And the Championship side will attempt to finish the job tomorrow night when the two teams go head-to-head in a last-eight replay that has got the town of Blackburn buzzing.

That is reflected in the huge demand for tickets for the eagerly anticipated clash.

Ewood Park is set to be a 28,800 sell out and Marshall reckons Rovers will need every bit of a support that they can get from their ‘brilliant’ fans.

He believes Gary Bowyer’s boys can take plenty of confidence from the outstanding performance they produced in the initial tie between the sides on March 8.

But Marshall maintains that Liverpool, despite their dip in form and despite their loss of key players, will still be favourites to progress to the semi-finals.

The reward for the winners of tomorrow’s massive match will be a last-four encounter against Aston Villa at Wembley on Sunday, April 19.

Villa are managed by Rovers’ 1995 Premiership title-winning captain Sherwood.

And Marshall, who starred in Saturday’s rousing 3-0 league win at Leeds United, said: “It’s going to be brilliant and we’re going to need all the fans behind us to spur us on as it’s going to be a really tough game.

“There’s going to be a full house and hopefully we can get a result.

“But we’ll be underdogs, as we all know, so we’ve just got to do what we can.”

Rovers’ hopes of sending Liverpool crashing out of the competition have been boosted by the fact they will be without captain Steven Gerrard, Martin Skrtel and Emre Can through suspensions picked up in the damaging league defeats they suffered to Manchester United and Arsenal.

But Marshall said: “It gives us a chance but let’s not forget we’re playing Liverpool and they’ll probably replace one international with another international.

“We can’t look at it like that, we’ve just got to do everything we can and hopefully we can get a result.”

Rovers certainly did that on Merseyside a month ago when they would have beaten Liverpool at the first time of asking had it not been for Simon Mignolet’s superb second-half save from Alex Baptiste.

Marshall said: “We went there with a mindset of trying to get every man behind the ball and stop them from playing.

“We did that and I thought we could have nicked it as we had a few chances ourselves.

“It was a great experience for me and one I won’t forget.”

But Marshall admits tomorrow’s replay, and the possibility of playing at Wembley, would top that.

The Manchester United supporter said: “It’s going to be up there with the biggest games I’ve played in, especially with it being Liverpool and with it being at Ewood.

“I’m really looking forward to it and hopefully luck is on our side.

“It would be massive to get to Wembley and it would be great reward for our brilliant supporters.

“We’ve not been expected to get this far but we’re here now and we’re going to work our socks off to try and get to Wembley.”
