COLNE'S injury crisis deepened as Anthony Murt limped out of the warm up before Saturday's game and Scott Gizon was stretchered off after five minutes.

In spite of this, Colne made a bright start with new boys Chris Gallagher and Jeff Mounton soon settling in.

Deservedly, they took the lead on 20 minutes with a wonder strike from Paul Walker from all of 45 yards.

They continued to dominate the half and Liam Garbutt came close with two great strikes which were well saved by Greg Hall with efforts from James Blackburn going just wide.

Maine Road's contribution was disappointing for a top three team and Colne looked on course for a comfortable victory.

But the introduction of Mark Mitchell by Maine Road changed the course of the game.

On 65 minutes, his corner was powered home by Oliver McGee and a minute later his cross was bundled home by Steve Cheetham.

Colne were now chasing a game they should have won and Blackburn almost equalised with a fierce free- kick.

But Maine Road sealed the result in the final minute when Neil Chappell tapped home after a goalmouth scramble.
