ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman hailed his goal hero Paul Mullin and said the striker is "the envy of every club in the Football League".

The Reds captain grabbed his second goal in successive games against Lincoln City on Saturday to take his tally to 10 for the season.

And he could even have won it for Stanley just minutes after bagging the equaliser.

Coleman revealed Mullin has had his critics in the current campaign, but, after another faultless display, he couldn't understand why.

He said: "I'm delighted for Paul because he's been through a barren spell. That's two in two and hopefully he can keep that going next Saturday.

"Paul Mullin has his detractors and I don't know why. I think the people who criticise him shouldn't have the right to vote.

"Anyone who criticises his attitude, endeavor or his ability doesn't know much about football, and while they pay their money and they're entitled to their opinion, I would prefer it if they kept it to themselves.

"We never signed Paul as a goalscorer. We signed him to lead the line and I think we are the envy of everyone in the Football League who would love Paul Mullin to lead their line.

"That's why I scratch my head when I hear his detractors."

The Reds twice battled back from a goal down to hold high-flying Lincoln at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

And although Coleman was disappointed not to have taken all three points from the match, he was delighted with the spirit shown from his side.

He added: "All that we ask for is fight and spirit and a bit of passion and ok, in the main part they do show that, but unfortunately things can conspire against them or things don't go their way.

"We had two setbacks today and we bounced back and I think we could have gone on and won the match.

"If we can turn in that kind of performance between now and the end of the season then we'll be ok."
