CHORLEY'S Jack Catterall is sparring with Floyd Mayweather ahead of the American’s super fight with Manny Pacquiao.

The 21-year-old rising star has flown to the United States for sparring ahead of what is being described as the biggest fight in history.

Catterall is a southpaw like Pacquiao and could prove a useful sparring partner for Mayweather ahead of the May 2 bout.

Catterall's father tweeted a picture of the boxer outside Mayweather’s Las Vegas gym, together with fellow fighters Cecil McCalla and Jamie Cox.

Catterall's trainer Lee Beard has extensive contacts in the United States and the unbeaten boxer has previously spent time training in Miami and New York.
