COLNE continued their excellent run of results with a 3-1 win over Maine Road at the XLCR Stadium.

The Reds got off to a flying start after two minutes when Danny Boyle fired home from a tight angle after Joe Garvin’s angled drive had come back off the far post.

Maine Road were reduced to 10 men when Connor Hughes was sent off for his second yellow card on the half-hour. The Reds took advantage with their second goal when Ed Williams got to the bye line and pulled the ball back for Spencer Jordan to fire home from close range after 37 minutes.

Maine Road defended well in the second half to stay in touch and shocked Colne with a goal on 82 minutes when Joshua Tinker fired in a 20-yard diagonal shot into the bottom corner to reduce the arrears to 2-1.

But the Reds struck back just two minutes later when Boyle cut inside from the left wing and curled a right footer into the top corner of the Maine Road net to seal the win with a 3-1 scoreline.

Victory takes Colne up to sixth place and they will hope to continue their winning run when they face Silsden at the XLCR Stadium tomorrow.

Barnoldswick Town have slipped back in to the relegation zone after a 4-1 home defeat to 1874 Northwich while fellow strugglers AFC Blackpool picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Runcorn Town.

Barlick did take the lead thanks to Harry Thompson’s 16th minute opener but goals from Daniel Thomas (23) and an own goal (37) saw the visitors lead at the break. And further strikes by Matthew Beadle and Chris Lunn sealed victory.

Bacup and Rossendale Borough twice led at Congleton Town before succumbing to a 4-2 defeat.

Dominic Marie gave Bacup a 39th lead which was cancelled out by George Whiteaok before half-time.

Marie struck again just after the restart but two goals in three minutes by Christopher Smith put Town in the lead for the first time before Scott McGowan added a fourth 12 minutes from time.
