NELSON continued their impressive run of home form as victory took them up to seventh place in North West Counties League Premier Division.

The Admirals started off the brighter against an Alsager side who had lost manager Danny Griggs prior to kick off who had resigned to take over at Nantwich Town.

And with just two minutes on the clock they opened the scoring when Jonny Hession and Kieran Walmsley combined and Walmsley’s cross was volleyed home by Danny Mahoney.

Nelson continued to maintain the pressure on the Alsager defence for much of the first half and were soon rewarded for their persistence.

In the 22nd minute Nelson doubled their lead with the aid of another superb cross from Walmsley that allowed captain Peter Wright to put the Admirals 2-0 up.

Nelson then had two glorious chances to make it three before half time with Hession and Ed O’Neill trying their luck at goal only to see their efforts whistle past the post.

The start of the second half saw a slight fightback from their visitors as they created chances of their own but Nelson continued to apply the pressure and got their third goal of the game late on in the second half.

It was man of the match Walmsley completed a hat-trick of assists by finding Wright who scored to wrap up all three points .

Victory stretched Nelson’s unbeaten home run in the league to seven games.

Victory sees Nelson move up two places to seventh in the North West Counties Premier Division.
