PLANS are now finalised to hold the annual Pendle Triathlon on Sunday, May 10.

This year, for the first time, two competitions will be held.

A sprint triathlon consisting of a 750m swim, 22.4km cycle and a 5.4km run will be open to competitors who must be aged 15 and over by December 31, 2015.

And a GoTri race consisting of a 250m swim, 11km cycle and a 2.5km run will be open to competitors who must be 14 by December 31.

West Craven Sport Centre (Pendle Leisure Trust) is running a triathlon training camp every Thursday evening from 8.15-9.15pm to help people prepare.

More than 100 competitors are already registered.

Training sessions run by the club are continuing throughout the winter and details can be found at www.pendletriclub.co.uk Four Trawden AC members, meanwhile, completed the Dewsbury 10k on Sunday.

Leading the club’s charge was Chris Quigley in 37 minutes 56 seconds. He was followed in 136th by Dave Lord, who passed the post in 38mins 26secs.

Coming home in 352nd was John McDonald in 44mins 2secs.

And Ashley Eastwood was 502nd in 47mins 28secs.

On the same day, Barlick Fell Runners’ Ian Livesey was 45th in the Brooks Alsager 5 Mile in 27mins 2secs.

The previous day, John Boothman spearheaded the club’s challenge in the Skipton Park Run when finishing 12th in 21mins 25secs.

Angela Boothman was next home in 135th in 31mins 6secs, followed by Jenna Boothman (146th in 32mins 28secs) and Susan Hird (156th in 35mins 40secs).
