CLITHEROE threw away a three goal lead at half time as New Mills equalised in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Sefton Gonzales continued his impressive scoring run with two goals and Jason Hart also found the net to give Clitheroe what looked an unassailable lead at the interval.

However the home side came out fighting in the second half and were back in the game on 49 minutes when Danny Brady put the ball into his own net.

Clitheroe were down to ten men for the last 25 minutes, when Roberto Bonaminio received his second yellow card.

Daniel Forde made it 3-2 on 77 minutes and continued to pressure the Clitheroe goal. With the game in stoppage time, Clitheroe looked like holding on for the win, but substitute Matt Landregan was given too much time and space to level the game and complete the comeback for the home team.

n All North West Counties League games involving East Lancashire clubs were postponed at the weekend due to frozen or snowbound pitches.

In the Premier Division, sixth-placed Nelson’s match at third-placd Ashton Athletic was called off due to a frozen pitch while in-form Colne, who have won their last three league matches, had to postpone their home match with Silsden due to snow on the pitch.

It was the same story at bottom-of-the-table Bacup and Rossendale Borough and at Barnoldswick Town whose matches against Abbey Hey and Runcorn Linnets respectively did not go ahead.

And in Division One, AFC Darwen’s match against Cammell Laird 1907 was one of three games hit by the weather.
