PAUL Ramsey said he wanted to see his members test themselves at the very highest level - and they passed with flying colours.
Having seen his fighters clinch Area, English and British titles over the years, going to the world champions was obviously the next step.
And they got there thanks to plenty of hard work and support from the local community.
"We wanted to test ourselves at this level as we have been very successful at British level," added Ramsey. "So to take just six fighters and all come away with medals was fantastic."
The club was able to make the trip to Tuscany thanks to months of fund raising events included exhibitions, tombolas and raffles while they also had the generous support of local businesses.
It raised a total of £5,000 to pay for the trip.
"We wanted to take the worry of raising funds away from the families so we did it as a club," added Ramsey.
"We work very hard within the community and it is great to see the community come out and support us. We are extremely grateful.
"It means an awful lot to these youngsters, being a part of the club and winners medals gives them a real sense of achievement."
The club thanked Asda, Steve Roberts O2 Shops, RMS Scaffolding and the Stop and Rest Pub for their support.
