TALENTED Jack Fay underlined his boxing credentials after he was crowned North West Region Novice Heavyweight champion despite being just 18-years-old.

The Blackburn fighter, a member of Technique ABC, won the title after a unanimous points decision against Dave Charters in Walkden, Manchester on Saturday.

Fay dropped his opponent in the first round with a lovely body, head combination and also forced a standing eight count in the second round with a sustained pressure attack on the ropes then won the third round also comfortably.

Coach Shaun Litherland said: “Jack boxed the best he has ever done against a very tough opponent and showed maturity beyond his years.

“Jack has only just qualified to box as a senior due to his young age as is boxing fully grown men.”

Fay is back in action this Sunday in Liverpool when he competes for the North West heavyweight championship against the Liverpool and Cheshire ABA champion Nathan Quarless who boxes out of the Salisbury ABC gym in Liverpool.

“Salisbury ABC is a very famous gym in Liverpool/England which has produced Olympic, world and national champions and have had over 50 boxers represent England,” added Litherland.

“This is going to be a massive test for Jack.”

Technique ABC is based on the Middle floor, Chadwick Street Mill (off Bolton road), Blackburn.

Boxing is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6pm -7pm and have a junior class every Thursday 5-6pm for juniors from 8 to 15 years old.
