Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has criticised Watford midfielder Al Bangura for the challenge which left Robbie Savage with a broken leg at Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.
After seeing video footage of the incident yesterday, Hughes has described the tackle as 'a poor challenge'.
"It was a poor challenge - a little bit high," said the Rovers boss.
"He has caught Robbie just above the ankle, who has paid the consequences.
"Only the lad can tell you whether it was deliberate or with intent. You will have to ask the guy who was involved."
Savage underwent an operation to repair the damage last night and now looks set to miss the rest of the season.
