Norweigan top-flight side HamKam could strike a blow to John Coleman's plans by signing wanted midfielder David Mannix.
The Liverpool reserve went on loan to Stanley last November and made one League Two appearance at Grimsby before his one-month stint was cut short by a knee injury.
Reds boss Coleman was hoping to have Mannix back at Stanley to help in the club's fight for survival, but the 21-year-old could end up in Scandinavia after being handed a trial by the Norwegian Premier League side.
"He is doing well. He's got a good view of the game and has good qualities," said HamKam sports director Lars Tjaernaas.
Mannix's representative John Neald confirmed that a move could happen, adding: "We were invited to HamKam and will see what happens next.
Meanwhile Striker Carl Finnigan, who is believed to have been a target for the Reds, has agreed a transfer from Newcastle United to Scottish Premier League outfit Falkirk.
The 20-year-old has signed an 18-month contract.
