DISAPPOINTED Steve Cotterill said Burnley didn't do enough to win their first home game of 2007.

The Clarets boss was frustrated his players failed to capitalise on decent spells of possession either side of Mamady Sidibe's 25th-minute winner for Stoke City.

And he said too few players weren't on top of their game.

He said: "We haven't done enough to win the game, that's the cold hard facts of it,"

"We had enough possession but either sometimes played with too much patience and other times played with no patience at all.

"There's a time when we could pick a pass and another time where we can start sliding someone in.

"I have a theory on how many players gets you a result. If you have 11 players that play well on the day you'll get a comprehensive win. If you have seven or eight you'll get a win, if you have five or six you'll probably draw and if you have three or four, you'll lose.

"We only have four tonight, and that's not enough to get you a win."

Cotterill added that, on the back of the original Stoke fixture and Saturday's home game against Norwich being washed out, it was evident his players had suffered for having two Championship games postponed this month.

"I thought we started the game a little bit ring-rusty. We looked a little bit like we hadn't had a game for a while, the tempo to our game was too slow, and when we play like that we don't get any team on the back foot," said Cotterill.

"They've had two efforts on our goal from breakaways.

"I thought (Ricardo) Fuller was excellent, I actually thought he was the difference and that's why they won.

"I think that had we had an on-song Ade Akinbiyi maybe he might have been the difference."

He continued: "We aren't going to make any excuses about it. We didn't do enough to win the game. Full stop.

"We can look and say yes, Joey Gudjonsson needs more football, yes, Eric Djemba-Djemba needs more football, yes, Ade Akinbiyi needs more football.

"But I don't pick the teams they were in. They haven't had enough football and they looked like.

"I thought their touch and their zip and their play wasn't good enough.

"We looked as if we hadn't played. We had too many off colour."
