BURNLEY'S list of January signings has grown with Icelandic midfielder Joey Gudjonsson signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 26-year-old completed the £150,000 move from high-flying Dutch Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar to take manager Steve Cotterill's captures to four so far this month, on the back of Ade Akinbiyi's return from Sheffield United and loan deals for goalkeeper Mike Pollitt and Aston Villa midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba.

And with a further nine days to do business before the transfer window shuts, the Burnley boss hopes to bring two more new faces to Turf Moor.

"We're still looking at other targets, there are a couple of other people that I'm speaking to," Cotterill said.

"If we could get in the couple of other players I've been speaking to their managers about I would be delighted.

"If we got one, I would be pleased, if we got two I'd be delighted.

"I'm not looking to shift any.

"People may make further enquiries, which I can't stop them doing.

"I won't name any players and I won't name any clubs, in respect of those managers, those clubs and those players."

Gudjonsson will go straight into the squad for tonight's game against Stoke City, which was originally scheduled for New Year's Day but was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

And Cotterill believes he has bagged a bargain.

"We've lost a player already in Micah Hyde, so we needed to replace him, and replace him longer term," he said.

"We've only got Eric Djemba-Djemba until the end of the season, so we needed something a bit more permanent, so we're pleased with that.

"And for the fee we've got him for, it's an excellent fee. I don't think we'd get anybody as good in this country for that money."

He added: "I would say I had my eye on him more when he was at Leicester than when he was at AZ Alkmaar, because we don't get to see them too often!

"But he's not been out there too long, and I don't think he settled, I think he's perhaps more suited to our game."
