Blackburn’s Fox & Hounds secured their place in the quarter finals of the North West Small Tables Championship with a 4-1 win at Clitheroe Social Club.
The home side took the opener easily enough when Paul Cross overcame Adi Dugdale 56-8 but that was to be their only success. Jimmy Brookens levelled things with a 72 –31 defeat of R. Hope before Scott Morris made it 2-1 to the Fox winning 72-22. Frame 4 was a cracker with Mick McHugh (right) rolling back the years with a superbly taken run of 59 to put the visitors within a frame of victory.
Skipper Derek Haworth didn’t disappoint winning comfortably 62-28 to take the match. It was a different story for Darwen’s Hoddlesden Conservative Club who’s trip to Tyldesley Con Club ended in a 4-1 defeat.
Skipper Dave Fenwick was his usual stoic self, feeling that with a bit better run for his players things might have gone differently.
The results leave Fox & Hounds as our only representatives left in the competition and all eyes will be on next week’s draw.
