Brad Hodge is determined to fire Lancashire to glory next season when he returns to Old Trafford for a third consecutive season.

The Victorian batsman joins fellow overseas signing Muttiah Muralitharan at the club, and believes it is high time the Red Rose struck gold - or even silver.

"I think that this is our time, and we will get it right sooner rather than later. We have got a great side together now," he said.

"I really do want to be that one person who makes a difference in helping Lancashire overcome that hurdle and win a title or two."

The 31 year-old's previous two seasons have been truncated as far as regular appearances have been concerned.

In 2005 these were cut short due to an Ashes Test call - and he arrived late too because of a hernia operation.

And then again in 2006, Brad arrived late due to the birth of his first child - and left early because of international commitments. He was due to come back for the last month of the season, but a neck injury also prevented that.

"I left after the Middlesex game at Lord's, and got this injury pretty quickly. I'm not sure how I did it - lifting my son or throwing a ball - but I slipped a disk in my neck," he explained.

"It was a very serious injury that sent shooting pains right down my body. It was absolute agony at times. It was eight to ten weeks of a job, and at one stage I actually had a consultation with the surgeon with a view to actually having surgery to remove the disk.

"I know it hasn't been the easiest two years as far as other things have been concerned, but I want to try my best to make up for lost time a little bit. I definitely want a full season next year where I can contribute 1500 runs in the Championship."

Hodge is currently in the middle of a promising domestic state season with the Victorian Bushrangers.

But despite his full focus being directed towards the MCG based side, one eye has already diverted towards his Old Trafford stint.

"I'm pretty excited about the Lancashire campaign too. I have really enjoyed the two years I've had, and I'm looking forward to another two," he added.
