Everton boss David Moyes could rest several players ahead of this Sunday's FA Cup clash with Blackburn after admitting his focus for the season was to ensure top flight survival.

Moyes' men lost their unbeaten record over the festive period when they went down 2-1 at Manchester City.

In addition, playmaker Mikel Arteta picked up his fifth booking of the campaign which seems set to rule the Spaniard out of the January 14 Premiership encounter with Reading.

Despite the setback, the Toffees remain eighth in the table, five points behind sixth-placed Portsmouth and a massive 13 in front of West Ham who occupy the third relegation slot.

However, Moyes is refusing to look too far in front of himself.

"We are not looking any further forward than the next game," he said.

"We still need to pick up the points that ensure we will be a Premier League club again next season.

"Once we achieve that, then we will see how far we can move on."

Key midfielder Tim Cahill could be involved providing he suffers no setback in his recovery from the knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines since mid-November.

Moyes has yet to decide whether to name Victor Anichebe in his starting line-up though.
