ROVERS chairman John Williams has revealed several clubs have expressed an interest in Blackburn players - but reiterated that the club's stars are not for sale.

Mr Williams says he has fielded several calls regarding some of the club's first team players but has rebuffed all inquiries as Rovers look to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Morten Gamst Pedersen in the national press and other Rovers stars have impressed this season, but Williams insisted the club's senior players weren't for sale.

Lucas Neill is obviously a special case, with the defender out of contract in the summer and tipped for a move to Liverpool, but the Rovers chairman reiterated that the Australian World Cup star wouldn't be going anywhere unless Rovers would benefit.

Mr Williams said: "We are not actively seeking to sell any of our players although we have had several expressions of interest.

"We don't want to let anybody go, which was the case in the summer. During the close season, we fought off considerable interest for some of our players but we had the squad that we wanted and we wanted to stick with that."

On potential new signings, the Rovers chairman said nothing was imminent despite Rovers being linked with moves for former Ewood Park favourite David Dunn and Norwich City striker Rob Earnshaw.

He added: "The focus at the moment for Mark is to get the three long-term injury victims (Ryan Nelsen, Steven Reid and Jason Roberts) back available again.

"Our strategic long-term plan has always been to acquire players who are good enough to go straight into the first team and although we will continue to look around, the main focus is on getting these players back fit."
