Boxer Charlie Smith is proving a big hit after he clinched an English ABA Championship.
Blessed Trinity student Charlie, 12, from Burnley Road, Briercliffe won the event at Kent at the 40-42kg category. He has now moved up to the 45k category. Charlie has been boxing for four years and trains at Roche Boxing Club four times a week for three hours per session,.
“I was thrilled with winning a title and now I want to go all the way in the sport and turn professional,” said Charlie follows a strict diet when he competes.
Charlie's older brother William, 15, also at Blessed Trinity is also a boxer.

Blessed Trinity pupil Katie plays for Lancashire as Goal Defence or Goal Keeper.
The 15-year-old trains three hours a week out of school – at Leyland and at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form – and plays in the Burnley Ladies League every Tuesday.
“I play for Burnley and Lancashire and I really enjoy it,” said Katie, who lives on Stephenson Drive. “I want to continue my netball career as long as I can as every game is a challenge.”
