ACCRINGTON Stanley boss James Beattie believes his side can continue their recent upsurge in League Two form this weekend despite suffering FA Cup heartache.
Stanley were beaten 1-0 by League One side Tranmere Rovers last time out with Ryan Lowe notching a 90th minute winner that was tough to take for a Reds side who warranted at least a replay.
But Beattie, who has seen his side piece together a five-game unbeaten run to claw themselves off the bottom of the table, is confident the Reds will overcome the cup defeat when they make the journey to play-off hunting Scunthorpe on Saturday.
He said: “I think we can carry on our league momentum.
“If you take into consideration the progress we have made only the last few weeks then I think we will get over this defeat.”
Beattie believes the loss to Tranmere was up there with the best performance Stanley have produced this season and insists if they continue to play at that standard then will pick up plenty of points in League Two.
Beattie added: “Saturday was one of the best games we have played all season. We just failed to convert the first chance and it kicked us in the teeth.
“We created good chances and that for me is pleasing. They weren’t just half chances.”
Stanley are still waiting on the fitness of Danny Webber and full-back Laurence Wilson heading into the match at Glanford Park.
Meanwhile, Stanley’s youth team will visit Ilkeston in the FA Youth Cup second round on Tuesday, November 19.
