GARY Bowyer thinks Todd Kane can go on to secure further England honours after bringing the defender back to Ewood Park on a season-long loan deal.

Kane will officially start his loan at Rovers on July 1 after impressing during two temporary spells for the club last season.

Bowyer is still hoping to add to his squad with two more signings soon, with midfielder David Jones and utility man Frederic Veseli among his targets.

But he was delighted to get a deal for Kane done and Bowyer thinks the former England Under 19 international can go on to secure more England honours.

“That’s my opinion,” he said. “He’s unfortunate not to be in the England Under 20 World Cup squad, that’s how highly I rate him “It’s important that players always set themselves targets and if he can hit the ground running like he finished season there’s no reason why he can’t be pushing for the Under 21s.

“I did think we might have to wait a little bit longer but we’ve got the loan done and it’s good news for us.”

Rovers return for pre-season tomorrow with Adam Henley close to full training after a hamstring injury but Dickson Etuhu is still recovering from a knee injury.
