BLACKBURN are still looking for their first win of the season after throwing away a lead to lose to a spirited Upper Eden side.

It was a bitter bill to take for the Ramsgreave Drive side who themselves had battle back from 10-0 down to lead 20-13 in the second half.

But they were made to pay for some poor tackling and unusual poor kicking from outside half Nick Smith.

From the off, the home side put pressure on the Upper Eden line but were unable to score. Smith was wayward with an early penalty, the first of several miss kicks, as the Burn fly half experienced an unusual poor kicking day.

And they soon paid the price when Upper Eden took the lead with a successful penalty.

Smith failed with his next kick and again Blackburn were punished as Upper Eden scored their first try of the game on 22 minutes which was converted to lead 10-0.

But Blackburn fought back when Jack Campbell show good pace to race clear to score after good work by Richard Maudsley.

Smith added the extras then slotted over a penalty to level the scores.

Blackburn took that momentum in to the second half and took the lead when Liam Oldham picked up and drove low to score.

Upper Eden replied with a penalty but Josh Oldland then scored his debut First XV try, diving over in the corner after good work by Theo Coleman.

But the balance of power was to swing again and this time in favour of the visitors.

The drew level with a converted try, took the lead with an excellent 40-yard penalty before sealing victory with a third converted try late on.
